Pootie Tang
(2001)

SHORT VERSION:
After being visited by the ghost of his father and getting a good figurative kick in the butt, Pootie Tang reclaims his belt from Dirty Dee and heads off to face Lecter and get back his image.

He gets to a grand opening of a new fast food chain Lecter created called Pootie’s Bad Time Burgers, having been made aware of this event by his friend Trucky, and after he scares away an imposter there, Lecter summons for a gang of fake Pootie Tangs to assist him. However, Biggie Shorty then appears to back up Pootie, and together they beat all of the phonies into submission or retreat. Pootie then gets his hands on Lecter and whips his butt with his belt right in front of the press, more or less besting him, and Shorty announces to the press that she and Pootie are getting married. They then go to the home of Ireenie, the woman who seduced Pootie into signing over the rights to his image to Lecter, and Shorty backhands her.

LONG VERSION:
After farm life becomes a lot less than idyllic for him, Pootie Tang (Lance Crouther) is visited by the spirits of his deceased parents, and his father (Chris Rock) criticizes him for running from his problems. He also tells him that he knew he would lose his belt one day, but then admits that there was nothing special about the belt he lost to Ireenie (Jennifer Coolidge) and Lecter (Robert Vaughn), and he never needed it because the goodness was in his heart, and now he has to take that and teach the world right from wrong and kick some butt.

While hanging out at the local general store, Pootie is approached by the Sheriff (Christopher Wynkoop), and he tells him that he knows of the sexual episode he earlier had with his daughter Stacy (Cathy Trien). Since he has been trying to marry her off for years, he puts his gun in Pootie’s face to try to force him to marry Stacy. Just then, Dirty Dee (Reg E. Cathey) and his crew show up plotting to eliminate Pootie for Lecter, who is going to be opening up a new fast food chain called Pootie’s Bad Time Burgers and didn’t want Pootie to show up and ruin the grand opening ceremony. The Sheriff tries to assert his authority, but Dirty Dee’s right hand man Froggy (J.D. Williams) slugs him in the face and knocks him out. Pootie knocks Froggy out in return, and then Dirty Dee shows Pootie that he is in possession of his belt. They get into a face-off, and Dirty Dee tries to use the belt, but finds that he can’t get it to work like he wants. The belt then leaves his hand and goes back to Pootie, who then uses it to whip Dirty Dee silly and knock him unconscious. The Sheriff then forces Pootie into a wedding to Stacy, but Trucky (J.B. Smoove) shows up at the ceremony in his car and tells him that Lecter and his corporation have been using his image to hawk their wares and using (poor) look-alikes to assist with the promoting, and everyone believes that the look-alikes are really him, so he must go back to the city to set the record straight. Pootie takes Trucky’s car and drives back to the city to remedy the problem, leaving Trucky to marry Stacy instead.

Pootie returns to the city in time for the grand opening of Pootie’s Bad Time Burgers, where Lecter and an imposter Pootie are there having a press conference. After Pootie makes the imposter run away, Lecter summons for a gang of fake Pootie Tangs to back him up, but then Biggie Shorty (Wanda Sykes) appears to assist Pootie, and together they beat all of the phonies into submission or retreat. Lecter tries to make his escape in his limousine, but Shorty commandeers the crane putting the restaurant’s logo into place and drops the logo onto the limousine and crushes it. Pootie then gets Lecter out and whips his butt repeatedly with his belt until members of the press show up, and Shorty announces to the press that she and Pootie are getting married. They then pay Ireenie a visit, and Shorty backhands her hard.

The closing texts state the following:

Also, married life is somewhat peachy for Trucky and Stacy.
