Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home
Our heroes return to Earth after their adventure of "repairing" Spock (see the pooper for Star Trek III), but find it under assault by an alien probe that is attempting to communicate with now-extinct whales. They travel back in time to the 20th century, retrieve two humpback whales, and haul them forward to the 23rd century. The whales apparently tell the probe that humans are okay after all, and the probe departs. Kirk is busted to Captain for all of the chicanery perpetrated in Star Trek III, and also is blown off by a pretty cetacean biologist (Catherine Hicks) whom he brings into the 23rd century to look after the whales.
