Intolerable Cruelty

The short version: Both gold-digger Marylin Rexroth (Catherine Zeta-Jones) and divorce lawyer Miles Massey (George Clooney) end up rich and married to each other.

The way they got there is: Marylin doesn't get any money from her first divorce because Miles is her husband's lawyer and digs up a witness who helped her find the rich sucker in the first place. Then Marylin hires an actor to play a rich oil tycoon who marries her (rips up the pre-nup) and she divorces him, appearing rich. Miles had fallen for her on first sight and they end up in Vegas together and Marylin fakes vulnerability and they marry. "Rich" Marylin rips up her pre-nup to demonstrate her trust in Miles, but the next day starts divorce proceedings to get Miles' money and property. Miles hires a hit man to kill Marylin, but then finds out Marylin's first husband dies, hadn't changed his will, so she's rich for real and Miles stands to gain. He tries to call the hit off, but during the attempted hit Marylin gives the asthmatic killer a better deal to kill Miles, which he almost does but switches his inhaler for his gun and blows his brains by mistake. Later in the lawyer's office, Miles and Marylin realize they love each other, they're both rich, and they live happily ever after, even enriching some acquaintances by producing a TV show that features nasty divorce videos.
