Beyond Borders

In the last part of the film, former socialite-turned-UN relief worker Sarah (Angelina Jolie) travels to Chechnya where her star-crossed lover, the renegade doctor Nick (Clive Owen) is missing due to his involvement with a covert CIA operation--a deal with the devil he struck to finance his work setting up relief camps in war-torn zones. She has always been in love with him, despite the fact that she has been married to Henry (Linus Roache) and has had two children in the 10 years she has known him, and their affair was brief and impossible to sustain. Eventually she finds him; he is being held hostage by the rebels. She helps him escape, and they almost reach the Red Cross station when she gets blown up by a landmine she steps on. At the very end he visits her house in England, and looking at Sarah's little daughter playing the piano through the window, he realizes that she is his daughter.
