The fincal scene shows a psychologist helping Mahowny (Philip Seymour Hoffman) come to the conclusion that he can live without the thrill of gambling. The best pooper comes from the closing screen crawl:
"Dan Mahowny received a 6 year sentence for fraud.
He married Belinda on a 3 day pass in Enterprise, Ontario.
He has not placed a bet since his arrest.
The Bank's suit against the Casino was settled out of court.
For a number of years, the Bank received part of every dollar Mahowny earned.
The Casino was shut down for 24 hours, for regulatory violations.
In Atlantic City, the occasion became known as Dan Mahowny Day."
