Daniel McCormick (Mel Gibson), after being cryogenically frozen for 50 years, appears to awaken with no ill effects. However, after a short while, he begins to age dramatically. A trip to the former home of Harry Finley (George Wendt), who died in the fire that left Daniel and his condition forgotten for half a century, reveals two startling facts: that the aging process is not stopped with freezing, and that Helen (Isabel Glasser), the love of Daniel's life is still alive! Daniel steals a vintage WWII bomber, and attempts to fly it to Helen's house. When an attack of "aging" threatens to make him crash, Nat (Elijah Wood) emerges from where he has stowed away, and using all of their treehouse "practice," is able to land the plane sagely. Daniel finds Helen just as it appears that his physical age catches up with his chronological age, and proposes marriage. She accepts.
