Liu Kang (Robin Shou) defeats and kills Shang Tsung (Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa) in the final battle, ensuring the safety of the Earth from the Outworld or so he thought. Liu and the others meet up with Rayden (Christopher Lambert) back on Earth at a celebration at the Temple of Light, but the celebration is short-lived when the Outworld Emperor Shao Kahn shows up in the sky.
