Alice (Jean Arthur) breaks up with Tony (James Stewart) after he does not stand up to his father Mr. Kirby (Edward Arnold) for foreclosing on her Grandfather’s (Lionel Barrymore) home.  Alice disappears and Grandpa sells the house so the family can be together.  Kirby has a change of heart and buys back the Sycamore home and Alice and Tony are reunited.
