Louis Simo (Adrien Brody) investigates the death of George Reeves (Ben Affleck) and learns that he was involved with Toni Mannix (Diane Lane), the wife of a studio executive.

Four versions of his death are shown; suicide, killed by his fiancee, killed by a studio hitman, and one with no resolution.

The viewer is left to decide what really happened.
