The Sum of Us

Harry has a severe stroke when his girlfriend breaks it off with him over his support of his gay son Jeff (Russell Crowe).

Her leaving triggers Harry's own guilt over the way he and his siblings separated his elderly mother from her lover Mary and sent her to a home, where she died shortly thereafter.

He is left wheelchair bound and unable to speak. Jeff cares for him as best he can and eventually reunites with his boyfriend who was outed when his father saw him in a gay pride parade on television and kicked him out.

Thanks Mary C!
