The documentary follows three New York City public schools, PS 150 (Tribeca), PS 115 (Washington Heights) and PS 112 (Bensonhurst), that have implemented free ballroom dancing classes. Students form friendships, learn to dance with members of the opposite sex, and for many, dedicate themselves to success for the first time. They all compete in the citywide competition at the end of the year.

P.S. 150 and P.S. 112 do not make it to the finals.

P.S. 115 (whose student population is 97% below the poverty line) wins the whole competition.
