Observe and Report
Upon failing to enter the Police Department and abruptly dropping his medication, a series of events take place around Ronnie (Seth Rogen), escalating to a very expected culmination:
- He discovers that fellow security guard Dennis (Michael Pena) was the mall burglar all along; when he tries to confront Dennis, he gets knocked unconscious and Dennis flees to Mexico -just to send him later a post card apologizing for the unsavory moment-.
- After going "undercover" in an effort to catch the flasher, one night he catches his dream girl Brandi (Anna Faris) having sex with Officer Harrison (Ray Liotta) at the back of a car, for which he makes her a scene the following day and loses his job.
- When he refuses to leave the mall premises after Harrison comes with a bunch of cops to arrest him, he gets into a collossal fight with many of them before Harrison kicks his butt in a fist fight and then has him hauled off.
- After being released and recovering at home, Ronnie returns to the mall, where Nell (Collette Wolfe), now off her cast, kisses him to cheer him up; it is then that the flasher (Randy Gambill) unexpectedly reappears and does his thing, thus interrupting their moment.
Ronnie gets a gun from a closet and chases the flasher through the mall and to the store where Brandi works, where he shoots him, although not killing him, and proceeds to take him away to the Police; Brandi thanks him but, in return, he crudely disses at her for being a traitor. At the Police station, he insults the officers who had been making fun of him all along, starting for Harrison, and demands to be acknowledged as the sole catcher of the flasher.
Due to his deed, he recovers his job at the mall and hooks up with Nell; in the end, he is interviewed, along with his working mates.
