Nicholas is cured by Alexy; his tumor has disappeared. Alexy does come to Canada and to Julie. They spend time together at a cabin in the woods and Julie becomes pregnant.

Nicholas’ tumor comes back. Julie and Alexy come to the hospital but Alexy’s hands “are cold” and no longer work.

The movie ends a few months later. We see Julie at home round with pregnancy, Nicholas at home on a daybed in the sunroom still ill, Nicole amusing him as always, and Henry writing. They are all calm and happy. Alexy is not there.
